BIRD WATCHING SAFARI

Day 1 Nairobi:

Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA) – Nairobi and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2 Nairobi/L.Nakuru:

Breakfast then depart for L. Nakuru National Park. We shall arrive in time for lunch at lodge.
1600 –1830 Hrs Evening game drive.

Day 3 L. Nakuru:

Early morning game drive where we shall visit the rhino sanctuary. Come back for late breakfast then relax in time for lunch. After lunch, go for bird watching where we will visit the world famous flamingo sanctuary and the baboon cliff to have an aerial view of the park.


Day 4 L. Nakuru/Kakamega:

Today, we are leaving for Kakamega after breakfast. Stopover at Eldoret town, the town where is home to many world famous athletes and take lunch. After lunch, we proceed to Kakamega and spend the evening relaxing at the hotel.

Day 5 Kakamega:

Breakfast at the hotel then proceed to Kakamega Forest national park, a home to many species of flora and fauna of the remaining tropical rainforest. Activities here include bird and butterfly watching, seeing and classifying plants of medicinal value. Lunch at the campsite and proceed back to the hotel.


Day 6 Kakamega/Mt. Elgon:

After breakfast, depart for Mt. Elgon Nation Park via the western Kenya towns. An opportunity to view sugar and maize farms and plantations. Lunch in Kitale then proceed to Mt. Elgon arriving in time for afternoon game drive. You will see elephant families at the salt licks of this park.

Day 7 Mt. Elgon:

Breakfast then go for a morning game drive. Come back for lunch then go for an afternoon walk to the unique caves. There are numerous caves in this park where you will have a busy day exhausting them.


Day 8 Mt. Elgon/Eldoret:

After breakfast, proceed to Saiwa Swamp National Park where you will find the unique antelope, sitatunga antelope which lives in the swamp. Stopover for lunch in Kitale then drive to Eldoret where we will spend the night.

Day 9 Eldoret/L. Baringo:

Breakfast then depart for L. Baringo via Kerio Valley for sight seeing, stopping in Kabarnet for lunch. Arrive for in the evening .


Day 10 L. Baringo/Nairobi:

Breakfast at the hotel thereafter take a boat to the island for bird watching. Do not forget your binoculars for this trip. Lunch and relax for the rest of the day.

Day 11 L. Baringo/ L.Bogoria/Nairobi: Breakfast and thereafter prepare to leave for Nairobi via L. Bogoria where we will walk to the hot springs and geysers. You will get an opportunity to shower with the medicinal water from these springs and geysers. This lake is also home to the greater and lesser flamingoes and other birds. Leave for Nairobi fully satisfied and relaxed.

Day 12 Departure:

Breakfast at the hotel as we wait for transfer to the airport for a homebound flight.

Day 1
Nairobi: Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International airport (JKIA) – Nairobi and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2
Nairobi/Masai Mara: Breakfast at the Hotel. Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve, often considered the finest game sanctuary in the country. Located In the south-western corner of Kenya, this vast rolling plain beneath the Mara escarpment, are home to an incredible scene of millions of wildebeest and zebra migrating north from the Serengeti plains during the migration season (July/August) offering the reserve’s resident lions plenty of meals.

Have an early morning and afternoon game drives as scheduled. Here you’ll find a great variety in species: wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, impalas and topi. Lions are common and cheetahs are numerous. You’ll also see rhinos, hippos, elephants and a diverse bird life population. You may also see the proud Maasai warriors herding their cattle alongside a spectacular wildlife backdrop. Maasai tribe’s people live on the reserve’s fringes and are co-owners of the reserve, sharing in revenues from tourism. We recommend bringing plenty of film!


Day 3
Masai Mara: An early morning game drive reveals the hundreds of bird species in the reserve, including the Kori Bustards. Large orange-buff pel’s fishing owl is a common sight along the river, but rare elsewhere. Or for a different perspective, join an optional hot-air balloon safari above the sweeping plains of the Mara, ending with a champagne breakfast in the bush.
After spending the balance of the morning at leisure, in the afternoon you can join for an optional visit to a Masai Village where you learn about the customs and culture of the Masai people. Then we are back on safari this evening. Our experienced driver guides will point out the different environments and explain their significance to the Mara’s ecosystem. You will also have the chance to see rhinoceros, once abundant, but now severely decimated by poachers for the high black market value of their horns. Return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4
Masai Mara/Amboseli: This day after breakfast depart for Amboseli via Nairobi. Your lunch today will be at the unique and famous Carnivore Restaurant, featuring a variety of roasted meat( roasted on spits). After lunch, head south from Nairobi into Amboseli National Park, set against the legendary Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. Amboseli is home to the “Big Five” of African wildlife: elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. The view of the Amboseli plains, with elephant moving below the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, is one of the most photographed vistas in Africa. A network of swamps and wetlands ensure excellent game viewing year-round. Enjoy an afternoon drive with an expert game tracker/driver.

Day 5
Amboseli National Park: The best time for viewing wildlife is in the relative coolness of the morning and the late afternoon. A typical day on safari begins with an early morning game drive. This will usually last until mid-morning, when you return to your lodge for breakfast. You can then either choose to relax or do another game drive after lunch. The afternoon game drive lasts until sunset. There are 425 recorded bird and 56 mammal species in the park, including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, hippo, black rhino, Masai giraffe, gerenuk, and zebra.

Day 6
Amboseli / Arusha / Ngorongoro Crater: Set off from Amboseli after breakfast. drive to Tanzania border. After being assisted with border visa formalities, continue on to Arusha for lunch. Continue after lunch to the rim of the great Ngorongoro Crater, an ancient volcanic caldera and great natural amphitheater.

Day 7
Ngorongoro Crater: Experience the Africa of bygone days when you explore the “lost world of Ngorongoro Crater. Within the Crater’s walls lie short grassland, swamps, forests and fresh Water Lake, inspiring continual migration of animals. From your vehicle, you will have an opportunity to spot the ‘big five’- buffalo, elephant, leopard, the black manned lion and the endangered rare black rhinoceros. Zebras, wildebeest and gazelles are common here. A picnic lunch in the heart of the crater is the highlight.

Day 8
Ngorongoro / Serengeti: After breakfast in Ngorongoro, starts a timeless journey to Serengeti, with reminders of how earth was millions of years ago. Visit Olduvai Gorge and explore the history of mankind. It was here that the Leakey family unearthed ancient stone tools and early fossils. Continue your journey across the Serengeti. Millions of animals live here.

Day 9

Serengeti:Have an early morning game drive to have an opportunity of seeing the cats looking for their preys. Afterwards you will have breakfast then relax as you wait for lunch. Go for an evening game drive after which you shall have an opportunity of seeing all the species of world famous big five.

Day 10
Serengeti / Lake Manyara: Today is the last day for game viewing. Drive to Lake Manyara National Park arriving for lunch. A busy afternoon. Discover the ecological and medicinal value of the park’s flora and fauna as your experienced driver guide takes you for a short nature walk. Followed by a game drive, in additional to tree-climbing lions, hippos, baboons and herds of elephants are likely to be seen. Lake Manyara is a bird-watcher’s delight. A unique safari by canoe for some fascinating game viewing is yet another optional activity. The acacia woodland surrounding the lake attracts continual herds of herbivorous.

Day 11
Lake Manyara/Arusha/Nairobi: Drive to Arusha for lunch. Then cross the border to Nairobi arriving in the evening. Dinner is on your own. You have a choice to try a meal in the Hotel Restaurant or visit Tamarind Restaurant for seafood as you wait for your homebound flight back home
